AMT (Automated Manual Transmission)
An otherwise conventional manual gearbox in which clutch operation and gear
selection are performed by actuators under electronic control. Gear changing can be
fully automatic or controlled by the driver via either a stick mechanism or up /down
paddles behind the steering wheel. In addition to offering faster gear changes an AMT
has the advantage that it retains a manual gearbox's inherent high efficiency.
