Active Suspension

When servo-driven hydraulic struts actively stabilize
a cars attitude, guided by data inputs from sensors.
the oar is said to have an active suspension system.
The struts reduce to a minimum the roll, bump and
pitch that destabilize a vehicles altitude.
In a fully active suspension. the servo struts are
connected directly to the hubs and therefore replace
or supplement the suspension springs. Active
suspension was pioneered by Formula l racing team
Lotus more than two decades ago. but problems of
power consumption. NVH (noise. vibrations.
harshness} and cost have so tar prevented its
widespread introduction into passenger cars
