Circumcision
The practice of removing the foreskin of male genital organ. In some societies it is done in females also, in which all or part of the external sex organ is cut off. Circumcision is advocated on the ground of reasons like sacrifice, admission to one’s social group, preparation for marriage, symbolic recognition of the dangers of intercourse or simply as a hygienic measure.
If adult men (or indeed women) want to have themselves circumcised for any of those reasons, or another or none, that is their right.
ReplyDeleteCutting any healthy, non-renewable part of the genitals off a child or baby is a human rights violation, as it is for any other comparable part of the body.
The main reason this peculiar custom persists is because its victims can't do anything to stop it.
